This is a microprocessor-controlled anesthesia machine and ventilator, meaning that at all times, the machine is assisting in breathing for the anesthetized patient. The microprocessor simultaneously senses the proximal airway pressure, inspiratory time, breaths per minute, flow rate, and then calculates a minute volume per Kg of the patient's weight based on these parameters. The ventilator also senses any negative proximal pressure, and depending on the amplitude of this pressure, determines whether or not to give an assisted breath to the patient. The unit electronically controls flow rate, breaths per minute, peak inspiratory pressure, inspiration assist, and positive end expiratory pressure. The ventilator may be used to safely deliver anesthesia while avoiding the risk of anesthesia-related respiratory depression. This type of anesthesia machine is very helpful when doing intraocular surgery when neuromuscular drugs are used to control ocular movement.

This monitor is an ECG, Pulse Oximeter, respiration and Temperature monitor. The ECG is presented on the screen continuously in a waveform while the monitor beeps with each heartbeat. The Oximeter continuously measures and displays arterial blood oxygen saturation, pulse rate, and pulse strength. The Temperature is measured continuously and displayed alternating with the respiration rate. It may be measured in degrees of Celsius or Fahrenheit. The Respiration is alternately displayed with the temperature.
